What I did on my summer “vacation”…

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

Where did it go? Summer I mean. We had a great summer… the weather was phenomenal, the guests were happy and we were able to get out and about in Door County.

With a colder and rainier than usual Spring we were happy to get the warm weather in July and August. We didn’t have a lot of the extremely hot weather which was nice. Weather, blah, blah, blah. Let’s get to the good stuff.

Well… it didn’t start out great. I tore a tendon and after surgery and a cast for two months etc., I am back walking 5 miles… thanks Dr. Hecker and Ministry Door County Medical Center!

We visited some hangouts including John Henry’s…

Door County’s July 4th Parade

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Here is my video of the July 4, 2010 parade in Egg Harbor. What is missing on the video? My “friend” Bruce Hill from the Lull-Abi Inn dumping an entire bucket of ice water on me, the man and his son jumping on our float and trying to be in the parade with us (mission aborted) and our own float in its entirety. What our float consisted of was Mark and I riding on a bed and the signs say “Make your own fireworks at Egg Harbor Lodge!” and the sign on the hot tub with our girls said “Leave the kids at home!”

And of all the video I took, who lands on the front? That’s Jeff Larson from the Landmark Resort... damn!

July 4th… our favorite holiday!

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

The Fourth of July will be here before we know it and at Egg Harbor Lodge we celebrate it in a big way. The fireworks are held the evening of the third… if you prefer to watch them on the 4th you can go over to Baileys Harbor. Egg Harbor Lodge has a float every year… when we get a good one we tend to repeat it for a few years. We start decorating the float in the a.m. of the big day and barely get it done before showtime which is 1:00. We plan on having refreshments for our guests out by our sign which is the perfect place to watch the parade. It gets hotter than heck so bring sunscreen. Here are my girls and me last year in our float… there is water in the hot tub by the way.

"Have the Girls Gone Wild at Egg Harbor Lodge? We plead the Fourth!

There will be food and drink at Harbor View Park in downtown Egg Harbor beginning at 3:00 on July 3 with a free concert by the Mango Brothers beginning at 5:00. The fireworks begin at dusk which is probably around 9:45 p.m. I still have a couple of units available… Don’t miss out on the fun!
