Stonehearth Suite Cancellation this weekend!

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

Stonehearth Suite

It is a two bedroom /two bathroom suite (1200 sq. ft.) It is perfect for two couples or 4 adults. There is a fireplace and a whirlpool. It has the most unbelievable view of the water with its 50 ft. balcony. It runs 350.00 per night (250.00 for 2) and is probably one of the best values in Door County considering the view, the spaciousness and its furnishings. I am not bragging… that’s a fact. I am sticking with my two night minimum for the suite. The weekend looks warm and nice… perfect for a perfect couple Ed and Megan Strege who are celebrating their wedding this weekend here in Door County. Best wishes you two!

Just stuff…

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Well, I made it through three, yes three festivals… Cranberry Fest in Eagle River (crazy), Pumpkin Patch in Egg Harbor (busy) and Fall (down) Fest in Sister Bay (I plead the 5th). I am about festivaled (not a real word) out.

Last week on our way home from Green Bay, we stopped at Rock Falls, a restaurant just south of Dykesville on Hwy. 57.

We LOVE Rock Falls. The bartender/owner, Jon Robinson is really personable and easy on the eyes which is a bonus…

They have a typical but yummy supper club type menu (steaks, fish, seafood, pasta) and a pretty cheap lobster and steak special which we ordered because we love it. We don’t get to Rock Falls very often so when we do get there we try and get the surf and turf special… luckily we landed there on a Tuesday. Actually, anything we have ordered there has been super good.

We ran into Elaine Macdonald of Bayside Tavern fame… she was dining with her friend Barbara Lund…

Apparently, we aren’t the only Door County residents who like to stop at Rock Falls on their way home from the big city.

If you want to catch dinner on the way to DC check out Rock Falls, you will want to make it an annual event.

Yes kids… it is almost here, Pumpkin Patch Festival, that is. Here is the schedule although it doesn’t mention that we will be frying a few brats downtown beginning tomorrow since the weather is so nice… that and the beer truck is already there. Check out the schedule…

We finished our scarecrow but need to put a few finishing touches on it. Tomorrow I will head downtown and post a few pre-Patch photos along with some scarecrow entries. Gotta love a festival… right?

I think I got a little brat grease on my lens…

Here is Mark and I on Sunday. There was a lot more time to check out the vendors and listen to the music on Sunday.

I took these photos today at Egg Harbor Lodge… It may look like peak colors but it actually isn’t. It should be good color for the next few weeks. Watch for my Pumpkin Patch photos…

Egg Harbor’s Pumpkin Patch Festival

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

It is that time of year again… Pumpkin Patch! Those very words alone send fear and excitement to all business owners, residents and employees alike. The festival is really a lot of fun… good music, food, crafts, art, games- you name it but it gets really busy and the traffic is crazy. (If you are lucky enough to stay at Egg Harbor Lodge you can walk or take a bike). The festival is run by the Egg Harbor Business Association. It is a huge festival run by a relatively small group of people. We recruit everybody and anybody to help and with the lure of free food and beer we usually get enough people. One year Mark and I decided to sell brats and beer while we were setting up on the Friday the day before the festival usually begins and Voila! the festival is now a three day event. We have not decided if that is a good thing or not. This year we will not be able to cook and sell brats on Friday but I am sure somebody will step forward and take over. This weekend means all hands on deck… all of our kids help along with their friends. It is a lot of hard work but a lot of fun and the best people watching experience one can imagine. This year the EHBA is donating $1000.00 to a local mother with terminal cancer. She and her husband have three children. The employees from Door County Memorial Hospital will work on Saturday to earn the money and will then turn it over to the family. There will be canisters for donations as well, so if you go to the festival, be sure to donate to this worthy cause.

At the end of each day we take all of the roasters and dishes to the Alpine… they are kind enough to wash everything up for us. We then stop and see my pal Emily Bertschinger and her family and have a couple of well deserved cocktails.

It will be a wild weekend… see you there. I will be the pony-tailed blonde wearing a dirty sweatshirt.
